Three decades of craft. One family. Thousands of homes illuminated.
It was 1990. Aligarh - a city already famous for its craft and industry - was about to become home to something luminous. Two brothers, Dharmendra Kumar Varshney and Yogendra Kumar Varshney, saw an opportunity that others had missed: the chance to bring genuine artistry to outdoor lighting, crafted entirely in aluminium.
They chose aluminium from day one, and they never looked back. Starting with a modest sand-casting workshop in Premier Nagar, they poured their skill and belief into every single piece: that every home deserved a light that was more than functional. Beautiful, durable, and made to last a lifetime. That belief became Padma Enterprises.
From that small setup, they built something that would go on to illuminate homes, hotels, farmhouses, and heritage properties across India and beyond.
Premier Nagar, Aligarh, where every Padma light begins its journey
From the very first day, we made one deliberate choice: aluminium, and only aluminium. It does not rust. It does not corrode. It holds its form and finish through monsoon, summer, and frost alike. That commitment to a single, exceptional material is the reason Padma lights installed in the early 2000s are still standing, still glowing, still perfect.
We began with sand casting, the traditional craft that gives each piece its weight, its detail, and its character. Over the years, as our catalogue grew and precision demands increased, we began the journey towards die casting. Today, we are steadily transitioning our range to die-cast aluminium: tighter tolerances, crisper lines, even more consistent quality, while keeping the same hand-finishing and powder-coating that has defined every Padma light from the start.
And we are not done. The same curiosity that drove the brothers in 1990 is pushing the next generation forward, towards a future where Padma may illuminate not just gates and driveways, but every corner of the spaces you call home.
The craftsman at heart. Dharmendra mastered aluminium casting from the ground up, beginning with sand casting and building the technical foundation that Padma Enterprises stands on. His insistence on quality in every mould, every finish, every weld is what makes a Padma light last not years, but decades. His work lives on in every product that leaves the workshop.
The visionary who turned a craft into a business. Yogendra built the relationships, the distribution network, and the reputation that carries the Padma name to this day. His ability to see beauty where others saw only function gave the business its soul. The trust that dealers, architects and customers place in Padma is a testament to the man who shaped it.
Son of Yogendra Kumar Varshney and the next chapter of the Padma story. Kunal has brought the business into the digital age - launching the online catalogue, building international reach, and ensuring every customer still gets the same personal attention the founders were known for. Raised around lights, he knows this business from the inside out.
