It was 1990, in Aligarh — a city already known for metalwork and craft. Two brothers, Dharmendra Kumar Varshney and Yogendra Kumar Varshney, noticed that outdoor lighting in India was mostly an afterthought: functional, forgettable, mass-produced. They set out to make something better, cast entirely in aluminium.

They started with a small sand-casting workshop in Premier Nagar and one conviction: a home's light shouldn't just work, it should last and look like someone cared when they made it. That workshop became Padma Enterprises.

Three decades later, Padma lights are on homes, hotels, farmhouses, and heritage properties across India and beyond.

Three decades of light

1990
Founded in Aligarh: Brothers Dharmendra and Yogendra Varshney establish Padma Enterprises from a small sand-casting workshop in Premier Nagar. Aluminium from day one. A handful of gate light designs. A very large dream.
Late 1990s
Word spreads: Padma lights begin appearing on the gates and driveways of Aligarh's finest homes. Dealers from neighbouring cities start placing orders. The range grows beyond 20 models.
2000s
Catalogue expands: From gate lights to wall lanterns, hanging pendants and pole lanterns. The range crosses 50 models. Pan-India distribution begins. The first export enquiries arrive.
2010s
Architects & builders discover Padma: Residential projects, boutique hotels, heritage restorations. The Aligarh works expands. The brothers' reputation for quality becomes the business's greatest asset.
2017
GST Registration: Padma Enterprises registers under GST, so contractors and builders in any state can order without extra paperwork.
2020s
The next generation: Kunal Varshney, son of co-founder Yogendra, steps in to lead marketing and operations. Digital catalogue launched, international shipping enabled, same-day quote turnaround introduced.
Today
100+ models, a craft in evolution: Shipping pan-India and internationally. Every product still made by hand in Aligarh, still in aluminium, still confirmed the same day. Steadily transitioning from sand casting to die casting, with plans to expand beyond gate lighting into every space a home needs light.

The craftsman at heart. Dharmendra learned aluminium casting from the ground up and built the technical process Padma still runs on. Every mould, every finish, every weld gets checked to his standard — which is why Padma lights are built to outlast the homes they're installed on.

Yogendra Kumar Varshney
Co-Founder & Business Visionary

The dealmaker. Yogendra built the distribution network, the dealer relationships, and the reputation that still opens doors for Padma today. He was the one who insisted outdoor lights could be beautiful as well as functional — a conviction that's still why architects specify Padma.

Kunal Varshney
Marketing Director & Operations

Yogendra's son, now running marketing and operations. Kunal built the online catalogue and opened up international shipping, while keeping the same direct, personal response the founders were known for — he grew up around this workshop.

Our works and office are in Premier Nagar, Aligarh - right behind Nath Niketan, near Chamunda Mandir. This is where every Padma light is conceived, cast, hand-finished, and packed for dispatch.
